MARSI is staffed by highly trained practicing physicians and coding professionals holding credentials from either the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). With a cumulative level of experience of well over 100 years, our coding staff averages 13.6 years of experience each.
Medical Audit Resource Services, Inc. (MARSI) was started in 1993 by Dr. Todd M. Husty, FACEP, a Fellow in the College of Emergency Physicians. Based upon his extensive experience and the needs of medical facilities, Dr. Husty established one prime directive for MARSI -- to provide a medical auditing service based on exceptional quality, accuracy and reliability.
MARSI uses a unique sliding scale for identification of both overcodes and undercodes and our approach assists facilities with continuous quality improvement through education. Reports include the reasoning behind our recommendations, citing Coding Clinic and the specifics of the case at hand. This provides an opportunity for anyone reading the reports to learn the application of coding rules in the specific example.
